THE TEAM

Peggy - 70: A former ‘Miss
Subway’ and
'jitter-bugger'
from Brooklyn, Peggy's trainer
encouraged her to audition.

Deanna - 64: Deanna played hooky
from work to try out. She was caught by her boss when he saw her
audition broadcast on the Nightly News.

Jeri - 59: Jeri never danced
before trying out for the NETSationals. She's been a devoted Nets
fan since 1978, harboring a secret wish to marry at half-time on
center court, when she finds the right man.

Pat - 73: Pat agreed to try out
only to appease her persistent grandson. Her family can't believe
she's a hip-hop dancer.

Betty/Betsy - 61: Kindergarten
teacher by day, Hip Hop devote by night. Betty/Betsy is struggling
to unite her two disparate personalities.

Edie - 64:
Edie opened her
Dance Studio in 1974. Since then she's been teaching generations of
kids to dance. She's thrilled to be getting her own chance to
perform.

Marge - 83: Marge’s
granddaughter Marla is a Nets Dancer and her new coach.
Marge, a former figure skater, danced with the 'Happy Tappers' for 8
years.

Janice - 72: Janice has been
dancing for 47 years, but she's not a fan of hip-hop. She's been a
member of the 'Happy Hoofers' for decades.

Fanny - 81: A dedicated Boogie-Woogie
and Cha Cha dancer, Fanny never heard of Jay-Z before her audition.
She goes Line Dancing every Friday night. Her granddaughter Trixia
is a Nets Dancer.

Willa – 71:
A great-great-grandmother, Willa says she's been 50 for 21 years.

Claire - 62: Claire competes in
amateur Ballroom Dance competitions with her 27-year-old dance
partner.

Joe B – 62: Joe, the only guy,
tried out for the team on a dare from his three sons. They each bet
him $100 that he wouldn't audition, so he did.

Audrey - 60:
Audrey, clueless about hip-hop. It was her Grandnephew Brandon and
Grandcousin, Tiarra, that coached her to become the Hip-Hop star she
is today.
